First Saturday in October, free rations of food are distributed in a town with its own character, who would miss it? There are many things you can do after enjoying this gastronomic day.

Torrox Fair

The Torrox fair begins the first weekend of October with a cavalcade where giant puppets of big heads parade before the lighting of the fair that night.

The fair lasts 5 days during which you can eat, drink and have fun. There are musical performances, booths and mechanical attractions for the little ones.

The daytime fair takes place in Plaza de la Constitución. To know how to get there, consult the following map.

Algatocín Fair

During the first week of October the Algatocin fair takes place. This fair offers the visitor typical dishes of the region as well as workshops and sports activities.

On October 4, the municipal music band travels around the town house by house and they receive typical sweets and drinks in compensation.

When: 4 to 7 of October.

Fuengirola Fair

The Fuengirola fair, one of the most popular events in the province, takes place from 6th to 12th October.

The main activity of the fair, both during the day and at night, is in the fairgrounds, with artistic performances and access to different stands and mechanical attractions.

In the fair booths you can enjoy good dishes, drinks and dances. The Plaza de la Constitución is another of the places where there is a festive atmosphere of the fair with dances and other activities.

Yunquera Fair

The Yunquera fair is a traditional celebration. Its origins link it to the return of many of its inhabitants from Cadiz after the harvest season.

After the grape offering, there is an event in which you can participate by stepping on grapes to commemorate the production of the typical wine of Yunquera.

Visiting Yunquera during its popular festivals is an opportunity to taste its rich typical gastronomy typical in some of its restaurants.

When: Around the 7th of October.

Nerja Fair

Between October 9th and 13th, is celebrated the Nerja Fair also called Feria de las Maravillas de Maro. The fair is characterized by its flamenco singing festivals, sports activities, horseback riding and verbenas among other activities.

During the Nerja Fair, the election of the Queen of the fiestas as well as Mister and Miss Nerja takes place.

When: From October 9th to 13th.

Ojen Fair

The Ojen fair occurs between 9 and 12 in October. It begins with a procession through the streets that ends in the square, after which the day fair begins.

The fair features live concerts and crowning of the queen and bridesmaids of the fair. Among the activities there are family games and mechanical attractions a few meters from the square for the enjoyment of the little ones.

Celebration of Monfi in Cutar

Cutar festivalThe first weekend of October is celebrated the Festival of Monfi in Cutar municipality, the 6th and 7th in 2018. This event presents the visitor with cultural, gastronomic and leisure activities.

The Fiesta del Monfi has been declared of tourist interest. During this weekend the narrow white streets of this municipality are dressed for the occasion with ornamentation and handcrafted souks in an attempt to relive their Moorish past and commemorate the resistance of those who refused to be expelled from their lands.

In the municipality you will find workshops of all kinds, from dance to forging or coin-making. Among the events you will find live music, parades, donkey rides, fire shows and much more.

This party is suitable for families because of the variety of attractions available. In addition to the cultural activities of the town of Cutar, you can also enjoy the architecture of the place dating back to the first centuries of Muslim domination.

When: October 5th and 6th.

Villanueva de Tapia Cattle Fair

This traditional cattle fair is held on 10,11 and 12 October. The origin of the fair dates back to 1860 and concentrated a large number of farm animals.

If you want to visit it, this is one of the oldest fairs in Andalucia, also a great opportunity where you can buy typical products of the area.

There are cultural activities and varied shows, a gastronomic fair, tastings and an exhibition of horses.

Fiesta en el Aire in Arriate

During the second or third weekend of October, from Friday to Sunday. In 2019 the date is the 11,12 and 13 in October. The streets of this town of Malaga are decorated for the occasion and presents numerous activities for all audiences.

The youngest children will find handmade games in some of the streets, although the elders will also be able to make use of them. An event that offers art, culture, musical shows and a varied cuisine to anyone who visits Arriate this weekend.

The townspeople’s effort to participate in this event of artistic expressions and gastronomic traditions is outstanding. The streets are filled with flea markets where you can find a wide variety of typical products.

San Pedro de Alcantara Fair

Every October around the 19th, they celebrate the San Pedro de Alcantara Fair. A fair that you will find during the night in the fairgrounds (same place where every Thursday you will find the flea market). The day fair takes place on the streets of the village.

During the fair you will find the typical inaugural procession, booths where you can eat and drink or dance, different types of events and outdoor activities.

Every year the fair brings a guest artist to perform a live concert.

San Pedro de Alcántara Fair

To get there you can take a look at this map. If you are driving during the fair, it is advisable to park in Marbella and take the bus to San Pedro de Alcántara.

When: From October 15th to 20th in 2019.

Yunquera Wine and Chestnut Fair

The last weekend of October on the one before (in 2019 the fair should be the 26th and 27th in October)  if you want to visit the village of Yunquera you can come to discover the wine and chestnut fair.

The fair offers the visitor a handicraft and commercial area, you can buy products from the town and participate in contests and tastings.

It is a festival declared of Provincial Tourist Singularity, so if you want to get to Yunquera you can look at this map to plan your route by car.

Fair of the Chestnut in Pujerra

By the end of October, the Chestnut Fair is held in Pujerra. You will find a whole series of products and dishes made with chestnuts and that precedes the procession of the Virgin of Fatima on November 1st.

On the night of October 31st, there is a verbena and roasted chestnuts until 1 am. It’s a night of music and dancing, plus during the day you can learn all about chestnut harvesting.

Halloween Night

costume-halloweenMultitude of municipalities in Malaga are invaded by ghosts and spooky creatures during the night of October 31st on Halloween.

There are special events and activities during the evening for all ages. Some establishments and other places including zoos or botanical gardens may offer discounts or prizes to those in disguise.
