October in Malaga brings village fairs, food festivals, live music and Halloween celebrations. Fuengirola and Nerja hold their annual fairs along the coast, while inland villages celebrate local food, crafts and traditions.

Fairs and traditional festivals in Malaga in October
These celebrations are a chance to explore the province beyond its beaches. Andalusian fairs combine music, dancing, food and fairground rides. The casetas are the fair’s bars and social venues; opening hours and admission arrangements vary between events.
Sopas Perotas Day in Alora
Alora celebrates its best-known local dish at the Día de las Sopas Perotas. Despite the name, this is a rustic bread-based dish rather than a conventional soup.

Torrox Fair
Torrox holds its annual fair at the turn of September and October. The programme brings together concerts, local choirs, dancing, children’s activities and fairground rides.
Plaza de la Constitucion is one of the central gathering places, with celebrations at other fair venues during the day and evening.

Algatocin Fair
Algatocin celebrates its fair in honour of San Francisco de Asis and Nuestra Señora del Rosario, with music, religious celebrations and village gatherings.
On 4 October, the village band traditionally visits residents named Francisco and Francisca, who offer drinks and local sweets in return.

Fuengirola Rosario Fair
The Feria del Rosario honours Fuengirola’s patron saint. The fairground is the main venue for daytime and evening celebrations, with casetas, traditional dress, music and fairground rides.
The 2026 programme includes David Bustamante, Antonio Jose and Marta Sanchez at the Palacio de la Paz, alongside flamenco, children’s entertainment and DJ sessions. Some performances require a ticket; others are free.

Yunquera Fair
Yunquera’s fair honours the Virgen del Rosario and San Sebastian. Its origins are linked to the grape harvest and the return of seasonal workers from Cadiz.
The programme includes concerts, flamenco, horse events, processions and children’s activities. Local food and wine provide another reason to explore this village in the Sierra de las Nieves.

Nerja Fair
Nerja’s fair honours the Virgen de las Angustias and San Miguel Arcangel. It is separate from the celebrations in nearby Maro.
Free concerts in Plaza de España include Mägo de Oz on 9 October, Chambao on 10 October and El Arrebato on 11 October. The patron saints’ procession is on 10 October.

Ojen Fair
Ojen’s fair combines concerts, dancing, children’s activities and celebrations in honour of San Dionisio and Nuestra Señora del Pilar.
The opening celebrations take place on 8 October, followed by the San Dionisio festivities on 9 October. The 2026 concerts include La Guardia on 11 October and La Hungara on 12 October.

Fiesta del Monfi in Cutar
The Fiesta del Monfi explores Cutar’s Andalusi and Morisco heritage through a themed market, workshops, music and traditional food.
The village streets become an Andalusi-style souk, with craft demonstrations, performances and family activities. The festival commemorates the monfies, Morisco rebels associated with resistance in the mountains of the former Kingdom of Granada during the 16th and 17th centuries.
When: 2 to 4 October 2026.
Villanueva de Tapia Cattle Fair
The Real Feria de Ganado brings together livestock displays, rural traditions and local products. Its origins date back to 1869, when the village’s position between Malaga, Granada and Cordoba made it a meeting point for livestock traders.
The 2026 programme includes cultural activities and a historical re-enactment on 12 October.

Fiesta en el Aire in Arriate
For three days, Arriate’s streets become an open-air setting for music, art, craft stalls and local food. Decorations made by residents give the festival much of its character.
The programme includes children’s games and street performances. Medina Azahara, No Me Pises Que Llevo Chanclas and Kiko Veneno are among the announced musical acts.
Arriate is close to Ronda, so you can combine the festival with a visit to the area. If you are driving, check parking arrangements before entering the village.

San Pedro Alcantara Fair
San Pedro Alcantara celebrates its annual fair around its patron saint’s day on 19 October. The La Caridad fairground is the main venue.
The celebrations combine daytime and evening entertainment, casetas, music, traditional festivities and family activities. The official programme lists individual venues and performance times.
When: 13 to 19 October 2026.

Yunquera Wine and Chestnut Fair
Yunquera returns to the festive calendar later in October with its Feria del Vino y la Castaña. The celebration focuses on local wine, chestnuts, food and crafts.
The artisan and food market is an opportunity to meet local producers and discover seasonal products. The fair has been recognised by the provincial authorities for its tourism value.

';Exhibitions and cinema in Malaga in October
The Legend of the Titanic
This immersive exhibition combines original White Star Line objects, virtual reality and 360° projections to explore the ship’s history and life on board.
The indoor visit takes around 80 minutes, with content available in English and Spanish.
When: 8 October 2026 to 5 January 2027.

Malaga French Film Festival
The 32nd French Film Festival brings French-language previews, documentaries and short films to Malaga, alongside cultural activities.
Screenings are in the original language with Spanish subtitles. Check the language information for individual films if you do not speak French or Spanish.

Halloween in Malaga
Halloween falls on Saturday 31 October in 2026. Celebrations across the province range from children’s activities and costume events to late-night parties for adults.
Some events take place on neighbouring dates. Sala Paris 15 hosts the Fiebre Club Halloween party on 30 October, with doors opening at 23:59. Admission is restricted to adults aged 18 and over.

Another autumn celebration: Pujerra Chestnut Festival
Pujerra’s chestnut festival is another event to consider around the change from October to November. Chestnuts are central to the village’s autumn celebrations, with local dishes and music.
The date and programme for 2026 have not been confirmed in this guide. Check the Pujerra Town Hall website before planning a visit specifically for the festival.
Getting around and planning your visit
Choose events that fit the area where you are staying. Coastal fairs are easy to combine with a seaside holiday, while inland festivals offer a reason to explore the villages.
A car can make village visits easier, particularly if you plan to stay for evening performances. If you prefer public transport, check both the outward and return services before setting off. Allow time to find parking outside streets closed for the celebrations.
Spain’s national holiday falls on 12 October, which may affect opening hours and transport timetables.
