Antequera

Antequera is the city with the largest expansion in the Andalusian province of Malaga. Due to its convenient location along the communication routes between the important Andalusian cities of Malaga, Seville, Granada and Cordoba, the city is also called the "heart of Andalusia".

Antequera

Antequera is located about 50 km north of Malaga on the Costa del Sol, and 60 km away from Malaga International Airport, which is about 50 minutes' driving time.

One of the most beautiful places in the surroundings of Antequera is the saltwater lagoon Fuente de Piedra, which is home to one of the few nesting sites of the pink flamingos in Europe. A popular destination for rock climbers and nature enthusiasts is the El Torcal, an exceptional limestone massif and now protected Natural Park. Interesting for young and old is the LoboPark, a nature park where you can closely observe wild wolves.

Just like before agriculture (olive, grain and wool) was regarded as the main source of income, nowadays it is tourism.

The initially mostly regional popularity of Antequera has also grown in recent years in the international arena. A "MUST", especially for art-loving travelers, as there in the museums of the city are located over 80% of the art treasures of Malaga.
