If you like to enjoy cultural activities Malaga celebrates the International Museum Day<\/strong> on the 18th of May, during this day the entrance is free. Let’s get the most out of the day and choose the ones you would like to visit without paying a ticket.<\/p>\n

Free visits to Malaga’s museums throughout the day<\/h2>\n

In addition to free admission, activities and guided tours are available free of charge, although some may require pre registration. All the information below.<\/p>\n

Remember that free entry throughout the day is only possible on May 18th. If you want to enter the museums for free the rest of the year you can go to the end of the article. I will tell you when and how to enter the main museums for free or with important discounts.<\/p>\n

As an important note, almost no official website has confirmed yet (3 May) opening time during International Museum Day. Only the opening hours of the Picasso Museum, the second on this list, can be confirmed.<\/p>\n

May 18 coincides in 2019 with the White Night<\/a>, so the popularity will be even greater.<\/p>\n

Special visit to the Museum of Malaga<\/h3>\n

\"Malaga<\/p>\n

The museum in Malaga will finally show a collection that has been stored for more than 20 years.<\/p>\n

There will be guided tours and among its particularities is the archaeological section of the ‘Tomb of the Warrior’, a complete funerary trousseau of a Greek warrior.<\/p>\n

There will be talks from 11:30 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. (In Spanish)<\/p>\n

Hours:<\/strong> 9am to 8pm<\/p>\n

Open day at the Picasso Museum<\/h3>\n

As outstanding features of this visit you can see the documentary ‘Picasso Crea’ and the Crommelynck Torculo, where about a thousand works of art by the artist were made.<\/p>\n

Hours:<\/strong> Free entrance from 10:00 to 7:00 pm to visit the museum’s collection.<\/p>\n

Guided tours to CAC M\u00e1laga<\/h3>\n

Virtual reality experience at 5pm and from 6pm onwards a workshop aimed at children between 5 and 11 years old.<\/p>\n

Guided tours of the exhibited collection at 12:00.<\/p>\n

Pompidou Centre in Malaga<\/h3>\n

The Pompidou centre offers guided tours of 1 hour and free entry from 9.30 am.<\/p>\n

Hours:<\/strong> 9:30 to 8:00 pm – Guided tours at 12:30 pm and 6:00 pm.<\/p>\n

Carmen Thyssen<\/h3>\n

If you are interested in visiting the Carmen Thyssen Museum for free, the museum will be open to the public from 10:00 a.m. onwards.<\/p>\n

At 12:00 and 6:00 pm there will be guided tours.<\/p>\n

At 8:30 pm the film Jesus Christ Superstar.<\/p>\n

Workshop for families the Saturday at 11:30<\/p>\n

Pre-registration is required at difusionmuseo@malaga.eu<\/a>, you must provide your name, surname, number of places and contact number.<\/p>\n

Picasso’s Birthplace Museum<\/h3>\n

The house where the renowned painter Pablo Ruiz Picasso was born houses an exhibition of the History of Art in Spain.<\/p>\n

Free visit to the Russian Museum<\/h3>\n

Have a look at the collection presented at the Russian Museum with guided tours.<\/p>\n

Joaqu\u00edn Peinado Museum<\/h3>\n

If you would like to visit Ronda or if you are in Ronda during the open day you can visit the Joaqu\u00edn Peinado Museum.<\/p>\n

Unicaja Museum of Popular Arts and Customs<\/h3>\n

Guided tours are available but you must pre-register by phone: Museo Unicaja 952 217 137<\/p>\n

Free visit to the Dolmens of Antequera<\/h3>\n

Two tours are available for up to 40 people. You might want to visit also the Pe\u00f1a de los Enamorados place.<\/p>\n

Hours:<\/strong> From 10:00 to 6:00 pm. At 6:00 pmthere will be a lecture by the professor of Prehistory at the University of Malaga.<\/p>\n

Film event at the Jorge Rando Museum<\/h3>\n

Visualization of the film Jesus Christ Superstar with a colloquium at the end of the film.<\/p>\n

Only recommmended if you understand Spanish perfectly.<\/p>\n

Free admission to museums all year round<\/h2>\n

If you visit Malaga during any other time or you wonder when you can visit the museums without having to pay the entrance fee I will explain it to you below.<\/p>\n

Alcazaba and Gibralfaro<\/strong>
\nAdmission is free on Sunday afternoons. If you visit the Castle of Gibralfaro the free hours are from 2:00 pm to 7:30 pm in summer.
\nReduced admission for Malaga residents.<\/p>\n

Museo Picasso Malaga<\/strong>
\nOpen free every Sunday between 6pm and 8pm.
\nIf you are unemployed and signed up for the INEM you have free admission.<\/p>\n

Picasso’s Birthplace<\/strong>
\nOpen free every Sunday between 4pm and 7.45pm.<\/p>\n

Malaga Cathedral
\n<\/strong>Free admission if you are a resident of Malaga<\/p>\n

Carmen Thyssen Museum<\/strong>
\nOn Sundays from 5 pm free admission.
\nChildren under the age of 18 and unemployed people have free admission all week.<\/p>\n

Jorge Rando Museum<\/strong>
\nFree all week long.<\/p>\n

Pompidou Centre<\/strong>
\nOn Sundays from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm or until 10:00 pm in the summer, admission is free.<\/p>\n

Russian Museum<\/strong>
\nFree on Sundays from 4pm to 8pm.
\nFrom 15 June to 15 September it closes at 22:00 hours.<\/p>\n

Revello de Toro Museum<\/strong>
\nOn Sundays admission is free between 10:00 and 14:00 hours.<\/p>\n

Malaga Museum<\/strong>
\nOpen Tuesdays and Sundays for free to European citizens.
\nIf you are not European the price to pay is low anyway.<\/p>\n

Automobile and Fashion Museum<\/strong>
\nFree Mondays from 2 pm to 4 pm.<\/p>\n
