Now’s a good time to make the most of the lovely weather. Have you thought about visiting Malaga in June?

Let’s have a look at what the weather’s like in June, and I’ll give you a few reasons why this month is one of the best times of the year to enjoy the Costa del Sol.

Photograph I took from the beach next to Puerto Marina.

Flight and accommodation prices are lower in June than in August.

5 Reasons to Come to Malaga in June

June is characterised by pleasant temperatures, a lovely climate that means you can enjoy not only the beach but also daytime strolls without getting too hot.

During this month, you can enjoy a relative quiet. Large crowds of tourists are still getting ready to arrive in late July and early August.

If you’re travelling with children or your family, the possibility of enjoying many other tourist attractions is much greater thanks to the previous two points.

Flight and accommodation prices are lower in June than in August.

Evening walks on the beach in June are already lovely; the sea breeze is good for your health.

Among some ideal recommendations for quieter times of year, I’d highlight the natural pools in Malaga, hiking routes along riverbeds, visiting the Torcal de Antequera or its Dolmens, a visit to Mount Calamorro by cable car… I won’t list all the attractions you could visit; you can already see our guide of attractions in Malaga for that. But I can say in summary that this month is perfect for doing so.

What’s the Weather Like in Malaga in June?

The weather during June in Malaga is properly summery. Average temperatures are above 25°C (77°F), with maximums of 32°C (90°F) and minimums of 17°C (63°F).

It’s possible that on some days, particularly towards the end of the month, you might experience especially high temperatures for this time of year, although this doesn’t always happen. In 2017, temperatures reached 37°C (99°F); during the last week of the month, the temperature didn’t drop below 30°C (86°F).

The sea temperature is usually between 19°C (66°F) and 23°C (73°F). From the middle of June onwards, the sea temperature becomes increasingly pleasant. May in Malaga sees out with sea water temperatures of around 18°C (64°F) and 19°C (66°F).

Does it Rain in June?

It’s not usual to have rain during June in Malaga, although it could happen. Looking back, we could say that on average, it might rain on one day out of the 30.

If you do encounter rain in June, it’s the typical summer rain – not cold and won’t stop you from enjoying a day at the beach or swimming pool. Nothing to worry about, but I’d recommend having a look at what to do on a rainy day.

What Clothes to Pack for Malaga in June?

The lovely weather encourages trips to the beach or the pool. No matter how much I recommend visiting the inland areas of the province or taking part in daytime activities, you can’t visit Malaga in June and not think about the beach.

Can you swim and go to the beach in June? Absolutely! If you’re heading to the beach, I have some tips for sunbathing safely in Malaga, and it’s also a good idea to be prepared in case of a jellyfish sting.

Recommended Clothing for June:

Swimsuits, at least two pairs so you can change while one’s drying.

Shorts – the number depends on how many days you’re on holiday for.

Sandals: I usually take one pair on holiday, but depending on your fashion sense, you might want to bring more!

Comfortable shoes, either for walking or going out for dinner.

T-shirts or tank tops: Bear in mind that the weather means you’ll probably want to change your T-shirt almost every day.

A light jacket and trousers in case of a cool evening or for the flight. Something like a sweatshirt would do.

Don’t bring a towel, flotation devices, or mats. It’s more useful if you buy them here. They aren’t particularly expensive, and you’ll have more room in your suitcases.

If you’re travelling as a family, I must advise you to watch the children on the beach. They have a great time, and it’s a highly recommended option, but don’t forget they are children. Better safe than sorry!

Are There Activities in Malaga in June?

Many events take place only during June in Malaga. How about I mention some of the most popular ones?

Midsummer’s Eve in Malaga

The night of the 23rd is undoubtedly one of the most popular celebrations during June in Malaga. Children will have fun with kids’ shows, bouncy castles, and workshops.

This year, all sanitary measures will be in place to make it a safe space. There will be a large children’s area in Parque de la Represa.

White Night in Estepona

This year 2025, the White Night in Estepona will be held on Saturday, May 10th. The event will pay tribute to the figure of Rafael Pérez Estrada, on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of his death, under the slogan “Is this life we are living the day, or has the night begun?”.

The programme will include numerous cultural and leisure activities inspired by the work of the artist from Malaga. A wide range of free events is expected in various spaces of the old town and other parts of the city, complying with health regulations to guarantee a safe environment.

The main activities will take place outdoors in the old town area and in the gardens of the Botanical Orchid Park. Visits to museums, exhibitions, musical performances and other artistic proposals are planned, which will evoke the creative universe of Pérez Estrada.

More information (2025 edition): I recommend visiting the official website of the event and the social media of Estepona Town Hall to find out the detailed programme as the date approaches: https://cultura.estepona.es/ or search for “Noche en Blanco Estepona” on their social media.

Other events in June

I will be updating other events taking place during the month of June, so don’t forget to revisit this page.

My son enjoying a day at the beach.

So is it advisable to visit Malaga in June?

Absolutely, it is one of my favourite months in Malaga.
