All for fighting the high temperatures for free during the summer. Do you want a refreshing bath? Continue reading&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>Do you prefer beach or mountain holidays? What about if you don&#8217;t have to decide? Hiking trails are usually not recommended during the summer, except in the cases where there are natural pools or rivers you can walk through.<\/p>\n<p>We recommend to check the latest reviews in google maps from each river or pool, as according to one comment from our Spanish blog some of them might be different than when this article was written.<\/p>\n<h2>Recommended gear when hiking through rivers<\/h2>\n<p>I recommend you to get ready, even more if you want to walk through any of the recommended rivers. It is a good idea to bring a waterproof backpack and the most important, shoes you can use inside the water.<\/p>\n<p>There are special shoes for walking on rocks through rivers but many people prefer to use just old shoes. I guess it depends in how many times you want to practice this activity.<\/p>\n<h3>Natural pool in El Chorro<\/h3>\n<p>This natural pool is made of the water from Guadalhorce river. Amazing natural views and many water activities to practice.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.malagaweb.com\/pictures\/outdoors\/el-chorro\/\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/www.malagaweb.com\/pictures\/plog-content\/thumbs\/outdoors\/el-chorro\/large\/587-el-chorro-1.jpg\" alt=\"Activities in El Chorro\" width=\"600\" height=\"449\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>This place is located near <a href=\"https:\/\/www.malagaweb.com\/andalucia\/natural-parks\/desfiladero-gaitanes\/\">Desfiladero de los Gaitanes<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.malagaweb.com\/andalucia\/natural-parks\/desfiladero-gaitanes\/caminito-del-rey.php\">Caminito del Rey<\/a>, both known because the amazing sightpoints.<\/p>\n<p>For getting to El Chorro from Malaga by car you must take the road\u00a0 MA-5403.<\/p>\n<p>Exact map location: <a href=\"https:\/\/goo.gl\/maps\/qguqW2dry5t\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">https:\/\/goo.gl\/maps\/qguqW2dry5t<\/a><\/p>\n<h3>Hiking through Chillar river<\/h3>\n<p>The walking trail of Chillar river is very popular, that&#8217;s why it could not be as quiet as years ago. Being a popular place is not a reason for not including it into this list as it has a great beauty and a few natural pools where you can bath.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-3596\" src=\"https:\/\/www.malagaweb.com\/espanol\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/rio-chillar-500x333.jpg\" alt=\"R\u00edo Chillar\" width=\"500\" height=\"333\" \/><\/p>\n<p>This route is in the Natural Park of Sierras de Tejeda, Almijara y Alhama. For getting there you must take the coastal road N-340 heading to Nerja and continue until you find the road signal Parque de la Naturaleza.<\/p>\n<p>It is <strong>currently not allowed<\/strong> to walk it due to the Covid-19 situation.<\/p>\n<p>Location in map: <a href=\"https:\/\/goo.gl\/maps\/mf4sr9Err3yGxpmQA\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">https:\/\/goo.gl\/maps\/mf4sr9Err3yGxpmQA<\/a><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"embed-youtube\" style=\"text-align:center; display: block;\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" class=\"youtube-player\" width=\"660\" height=\"372\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/Pyr51WpNk-o?version=3&#038;rel=1&#038;showsearch=0&#038;showinfo=1&#038;iv_load_policy=1&#038;fs=1&#038;hl=en-GB&#038;autohide=2&#038;wmode=transparent\" allowfullscreen=\"true\" style=\"border:0;\" sandbox=\"allow-scripts allow-same-origin allow-popups allow-presentation allow-popups-to-escape-sandbox\"><\/iframe><\/span><\/p>\n<h3>Natural slides of R\u00edo Verde (Green River)<\/h3>\n<p>Between the municipalities of Nerja and Almu\u00f1ecar in Granada, it is the Barranco de Chorreras in Rio Verde.<\/p>\n<p>For getting to the natural pool and slides you must follow the hiking trail starting at the foot of the gorge.<\/p>\n<p>There are Canyoning activities you can join online. Some of the webs offering activities in Rio Verde for all ages are:\u00a0 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.activitiesmarbella.es\/activity\/adventure\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Activitiesmarbella.es<\/a> (English) or barranquismorioverde.com (Spanish)<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-3597\" src=\"https:\/\/www.malagaweb.com\/espanol\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/barranquismo-rio-verde-500x195.jpg\" alt=\"barranquismo en R\u00edo Verde\" width=\"500\" height=\"195\" \/><\/p>\n<p>For getting there you must take the road a-4050, a mountain road with amazing views. You can get to that road from Almu\u00f1ecar if you take the N-340 or from the highroad A-92 when heading to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.malagaweb.com\/malaga-airport\/directions\/andalucia\/malaga-to-granada.php\">Granada from Malaga<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Location in map: <a href=\"https:\/\/goo.gl\/maps\/9A6DL8dtFFL2\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">https:\/\/goo.gl\/maps\/9A6DL8dtFFL2<\/a><\/p>\n<h3>El Charco Frio in Benaojan (Cold Pond)<\/h3>\n<p>In the mountain range of Sierra de Grazalema is the municipality with a great natural environment and hiking routes. At the beginning of the route you will find a signal post, you must head to the left for reaching the Cueva del Gato, where is the natural pool with crystal clear waters. The right path will lead you to the train station of the next municipality by following the riverbed, also very recommended.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-3598\" src=\"https:\/\/www.malagaweb.com\/espanol\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/cueva-del-gato-500x195.jpg\" alt=\"Cueva del Gato\" width=\"500\" height=\"195\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The name of Cold Pond is because the low temperature of the water as it comes from an underground channel.<\/p>\n<p>If you like speleology, there are\u00a0 nice routes with underground waterfalls. It is only recommended for trained people, there are important currents that make it a dangerous place for neophytes. If you are interested there are websites that offer their services for doing these activities.<\/p>\n<p>For getting there you must take the road A-343 and A-367 heading to Ronda.<\/p>\n<p>Activities in Cueva del Gato (*):\u00a0 Alijibe.com (Spanish)<\/p>\n<p><em>(*) Entering the interior either as a person or as a guided group requires official permission and it is not always available.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Location in map: <a href=\"https:\/\/goo.gl\/maps\/PRWkeM3YNGw\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">https:\/\/goo.gl\/maps\/PRWkeM3YNGw<\/a><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"embed-youtube\" style=\"text-align:center; display: block;\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" class=\"youtube-player\" width=\"660\" height=\"372\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/4SHWylYgRI8?version=3&#038;rel=1&#038;showsearch=0&#038;showinfo=1&#038;iv_load_policy=1&#038;fs=1&#038;hl=en-GB&#038;autohide=2&#038;wmode=transparent\" allowfullscreen=\"true\" style=\"border:0;\" sandbox=\"allow-scripts allow-same-origin allow-popups allow-presentation allow-popups-to-escape-sandbox\"><\/iframe><\/span><\/p>\n<h3>Natural pools in Barranco Blanco, Coin<\/h3>\n<p>Two great natural pools you should visit are in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.malagaweb.com\/towns\/coin.php\">Coin<\/a>, a municipality in Sierra de Mijas mountain range.<\/p>\n<p>It is not possible to get direct access to this place by car, you have to go by foot or using a bicycle. The easy way for getting there is driving to Alhaurin el Grande and then take the road A-387 to Coin. Before getting there you will see a signal post indicating the direction to Barranco Blanco. You can park the car near the bridge crossing the river.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-3600\" src=\"https:\/\/www.malagaweb.com\/espanol\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/barranco-blanco-coin-500x195.jpg\" alt=\"Piscinas naturales en Barranco Blanco, Co\u00edn\" width=\"500\" height=\"195\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The short hiking trail follows the riverbed of Alaminos river and will show you waterfalls and natural pools where having a good bath.<\/p>\n<p>According to a comment in our Spanish blog, after the raining season the pounds are less accessible, so better to check the latest reviews from the link below:<\/p>\n<p>Location in map: <a href=\"https:\/\/goo.gl\/maps\/ZgYTYsQsXPP2\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">https:\/\/goo.gl\/maps\/ZgYTYsQsXPP2<\/a><\/p>\n<h3>Natural pool of Vi\u00f1as in Ojen<\/h3>\n<p>Ojen is a municipality close to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.malagaweb.com\/espanol\/marbella.php\">Marbella<\/a>, there you can get to the natural pool of Vi\u00f1as.<\/p>\n<p>I haven&#8217;t visited this pool personally but I read that is a quiet place.<\/p>\n<p>For getting there from Malaga you must head to Marbella and take the exit to Ojen. The natural pool is on the foot of the municipal cemetery after descending the stairs.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-3601\" src=\"https:\/\/www.malagaweb.com\/espanol\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/rio-ojen-500x195.jpg\" alt=\"Charco de las Vi\u00f1as en el R\u00edo Oj\u00e9n\" width=\"500\" height=\"195\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Location in map: <a href=\"https:\/\/goo.gl\/maps\/i38FvCSjWk32\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">https:\/\/goo.gl\/maps\/i38FvCSjWk32<\/a><\/p>\n<h3>Charca de las Nutrias in Estepona<\/h3>\n<p>This natural pool (Pond of Otters) has enough depth so that even some swimmers dare to jump from the top of a rock that is at high altitude.<\/p>\n<p>There are some small waterfalls and different areas where you can bath.<\/p>\n<p>For getting there you must walk a rising dirt trail next to the river.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-3602\" src=\"https:\/\/www.malagaweb.com\/espanol\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/charca-de-las-nutrias-estepona-500x195.jpg\" alt=\"Charca de las nutrias en Estepona\" width=\"500\" height=\"195\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Location in map: <a href=\"https:\/\/goo.gl\/maps\/5LgdcyomNxJ2\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">https:\/\/goo.gl\/maps\/5LgdcyomNxJ2<\/a><\/p>\n<h3>Pozas del Padr\u00f3n in Estepona<\/h3>\n<p>Also known as Charca de las Extranjeras (Foreigners Pond). A cool hiking route\u00a0 by a river is always fancy, even more if there are natural pools where you can have some fun.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-3603\" src=\"https:\/\/www.malagaweb.com\/espanol\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/charca-de-las-extranjeras-estepona-500x195.jpg\" alt=\"Charca de las Extranjeras en Estepona\" width=\"500\" height=\"195\" \/><\/p>\n<p>For getting there by car you have to take the highway A-7 and the exit to &#8216;Escuela de Arte Ecuestre de la Costa del Sol&#8217;. After 6 kilometres you will find a place where parking the car, the first natural pool is around 300 metres far from there.<\/p>\n<p>Location in map: <a href=\"https:\/\/goo.gl\/maps\/Bf9BsvjmjtF2\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">https:\/\/goo.gl\/maps\/Bf9BsvjmjtF2<\/a><\/p>\n<h3>Charca de las Mozas in Benahavis<\/h3>\n<p>The main pool is more than 4 metres depth, that&#8217;s why some visitors dare to jump from the higher rocks into the water. Visitors can enjoy also a refreshing hiking route though the river.<\/p>\n<p>There are several pounds, some of them with small currents while others are quiet, ideal for relaxing. No doubt this is a good place to enjoy with friends or family.<\/p>\n<p>For getting there you must take the exit to Istan from the highway A-7. Very near of this place there is a camping area and a typical restaurant where you can eat.<\/p>\n<p>Location in map: <a href=\"https:\/\/goo.gl\/maps\/p4jLkCEY9tw\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">https:\/\/goo.gl\/maps\/p4jLkCEY9tw<\/a><\/p>\n<h3>Higuer\u00f3n River Trail<\/h3>\n<p>In Frigiliana (near Nerja) you will find several hiking trails. One of them is the recommended Higueron River Trail.<\/p>\n<p>A 8 kilometres trail where you will find waterfalls and crystal clear waters.<\/p>\n<p>You will need shoes and a waterproof back-pack or similar where storing the electronic devices.<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"embed-youtube\" style=\"text-align:center; display: block;\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" class=\"youtube-player\" width=\"660\" height=\"372\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/JQKwestm7Ok?version=3&#038;rel=1&#038;showsearch=0&#038;showinfo=1&#038;iv_load_policy=1&#038;fs=1&#038;hl=en-GB&#038;autohide=2&#038;wmode=transparent\" allowfullscreen=\"true\" style=\"border:0;\" sandbox=\"allow-scripts allow-same-origin allow-popups allow-presentation allow-popups-to-escape-sandbox\"><\/iframe><\/span><\/p>\n<h3>Infierno and Paloma ponds<\/h3>\n<p>Infierno Pond is a very singular place with great natural beauty. There are a few small waterfalls and it is surrounded by rock formations.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-3606\" src=\"https:\/\/www.malagaweb.com\/espanol\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/charca-del-infierno-manilva-500x236.jpg\" alt=\"Charca del Infierno en Manilva\" width=\"500\" height=\"236\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The hiking trail is in most areas through the river, because a great part of the route is within canyons It could be dangerous if the forecast says it might rain.
