By now, probably most of the readers will be wondering where is Ardales (photos<\/a>) and why is it worth an excursion<\/a>. Questions I will answer in the following lines.<\/p>\n

Visiting Ardales in February<\/h2>\n

Ardales is a small white village<\/a> of 2,600 inhabitants, winding streets and whitewashed houses located about 450 m above sea level in the North-west of the province of M\u00e1laga, about 50 km from the capital of the Costa del Sol and 63 km from Marbella<\/a>.<\/p>\n

I will tell you what activities are on February 3rd. Continue reading to find out why this is a place that worth a visit all year round, and a lot!<\/p>\n

Ardales is a beautiful town with some of the most important natural and archaeological sites in the province. The town lies at the foot of a steep hill on which are still preserved the ruins of an ancient fortress.<\/p>\n

Just 5 km from the village is situated the Trinidad Grund Cave<\/strong>, with Paleolithic cave paintings, can be visited by appointment. Also located nearby are the ruins of the Moorish castle Bobastro<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Ardales is probably best known for its spectacular nature: The Gaitanes Gorge<\/strong>, very popular among nature lovers, hikers and climbers; and the Natural Park of the Guadalhorce reservoirs<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Ardales festivity fair<\/h2>\n

\"typicalThis Sunday, February 3rd, takes place one of the most traditional festivals in the village, the Feast of the pig slaughter<\/strong>, one of the gastronomic events in the province of Malaga. Visitors can enjoy for free all kinds of locally produced pork products such as sausage, salami, chorizo<\/em>, meat portions and pork stew.<\/p>\n

Also there are musical performances, a traditional product market and a craft market. This Souk in Ardales<\/strong>, with completely handmade products, takes place from 10 am until 5 pm.<\/p>\n

Apart from enjoying the party, stroll around the lovely and well maintained old town.<\/p>\n

Getting to Ardales:<\/h3>\n

This wonder is less than an hour from the main municipalities of the Costa del Sol. It is worth a day trip to discover the enormous beauty and variety of the province, a few kilometres from the hustle and bustle of the coast.<\/p>\n

Ardales is 50 kilometres from Malaga on the A-357 and 63 km from Marbella on the A-355 and A-357.<\/p>\n

Assuming you are getting there from the Costa del Sol, take the A-7 road until the exit towards A-357 (C\u00e1rtama and Parque Tecnol\u00f3gico). Follow the A-357 until the exit sign of Ardales.<\/p>\n
