The festivity in honor of La Virgen del Carmen<\/em>, the patron saint of the fishermen, has a strong tradition throughout the Costa del Sol. The activities take place in the Fairgrounds of Fuengirola<\/a> and Los Boliches beach, which will be setting for the procession of the Virgin in Mediterranean waters.<\/p>\n

This is probably one of the most beautiful religious events taking place in Andalusia<\/a>. The patron saint will be taken out onto the sea, accompanied by many boats, flowers and a large number of devotees at the beach. It is definitely worth seeing it.<\/p>\n

For the ones who are more in a festive mood, the fairgrounds provide afterwards more diversion.<\/p>\n

The official celebrations will begin on Thursday, 15th at 21:30 pm with the opening of the fair at the fairgrounds in Fuengirola. The same day there will be Children’s Day, with all the attractions of the Fair at half price.<\/p>\n

On Friday, 16th a bank holiday in Fuengirola, at 12:00 pm a Mass will be held in honor of the Virgen del Carmen, to be followed by the posthumous tribute to the sailors lost at sea and the traditional Great Moraga on the beach Los Boliches, with free tasting of beer, sangria and grilled sardines.<\/p>\n

At 21:00 pm there will be the procession of the Virgen del Carmen along the Avenida de Los Boliches, Plaza de San Rafael and the Sea promenade to the memorial of Our Lady, entering the sea on Playa de Los Boliches accompanied by boats and spectacular fireworks.<\/p>\n

On Friday night the party will be at the fairgrounds with the performances of the Spanish groups Ni\u00f1o Raro<\/em> and Efecto Mariposa<\/em>.<\/p>\n

On Saturday, July 17th will take place one of the most curious activities of the Fair: the Tapas Bicycle Tour, which will start from the Plaza del Carmen in Los Boliches at 12:00 pm and take participants to taste tapas in different “sprints” that will house various establishments in the area.
\nAt 13:00 pm will take place Games for all at the beach, opposite the monument to the Peseta, at the Playa de Los Boliches.<\/p>\n

In the afternoon, at 20.00 pm the official booth in the fairgrounds will host a children’s party with entertainment. At night, return the performances to the Fair from 22:00 pm onwards.<\/p>\n

On Sunday, July 18th there will be more performances at the Fairgrounds, along with the celebration of the 35th Flamenco Festival with renowned Flamenco artists, at 22:30 pm.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
