Malaga Tapas are very popular for a snack and are eaten at any time during the day, although especially during Merienda (tea time: 4 - 5 pm). Some Spanish food is heavy on garlic and light on vegetables as a side or accompaniment. Salads are especially good as a replacement.
Fresh fish is excellent and a good value. Chanquetes - very small, deep-fried baby fish. The eating of these fish has been outlawed by the European Community but they are still available in many restaurants.
