Throughout most of the year, we can enjoy a wide range of popular festivals in the well-known town of Fuengirola on the Costa del Sol. Although a large part of the festivities in this town have a religious origin, the typical folklore of the people of Malaga has added their own nuances and colours, transforming these festivals into events where the atmosphere is lively and cheerful. January

In the afternoon, the big moment for the little ones arrives with the Procession of the Three Kings; the streets are filled with children, music and colours and of course the Three Kings who deliver tons of goodies.

February

Carnival: A Carnival party takes place in the Plaza de La Constitucion with costumes, music, face painting, balloon twisting and theatrical spectacle.

Family day: 27th in February

Andalucia day: 28th in February in Los Boliches.

March / April

Easter: A perfect opportunity to enjoy not only Easter processions full of passion and joy typical of Malaga, but we can also enjoy the first days of the year on the beach. The date of Easter varies each year.

April / May

International People's Fair (Feria de los Pueblos): It takes place in late April, early May where more than 30 countries show their culture, cuisine, crafts and folklore. A great multicultural event which attracts numerous visitors each year.

June

Night of San Juan: On the night of June 23 to 24, a large part of the coastal population moves to the beach at sunset, accompanied by friends, family, food and drink to celebrate the night of San Juan which culminates with numerous fires on the beach, people dancing and swimming at midnight; many of them enjoy until dawn the warm night and the official start of summer.

June / July / August

Concerts and Events in the Castle Sohail: During the summer months, a large number of concerts and festivals take place in the incomparable setting of the Moorish castle situated on a hill by the sea and next to the river Fuengirola, as well as the traditional medieval market in August.

July

Beer Festival: The famous Beer festival in honour of the Oktoberfest in Munich takes place in Fuengirola within the Castle Sohail. You can sample dishes from Germany and of course beer. The exact dates can vary.

Virgen del Carmen: On the afternoon of July 16, the maritime procession of the Virgen del Carmen, the patron saint of fishermen, takes place; a beautiful and touching procession, where the Virgin is carried into the sea among hundreds of flowers.

August

Medieval Market of Fuengirola: During the month of August, a journey in time takes place where you can buy crafts and typical handmade products. The exact date is not known until shortly before the event.

October

Fuengirola Fair: This fair, also called Feria del Rosario, is one of the most important in Andalusia with the horse as the protagonist and the fairgoers are dressed up in their finest traditional costumes; the streets are filled with carriages and a festive atmosphere throughout the day and at night the party and dance continue at the fairgrounds. The fair begins on the 6th and ends on the 12th of October, the same day Columbus Day, also called 'dia del Pilar', a free national day, is celebrated.

November

Feast Chestnut Roast in Marbella: The people of the neighbouring town Marbella keep alive the ancient tradition of the Chestnut Roast on November 1, spending the day in the countryside with friends and family, kilos of chestnuts roasting, anise and sweets and many stories to tell; many carry the tent and stay there to sleep. A warm welcome to autumn enjoying its fruits. Marbella is only 30 km from Fuengirola and you can get there in half an hour.

December

Christmas in Fuengirola: There is already Christmas atmosphere in the streets where are set up each year Christmas lights with great care. The Christmas lights of the towns along the Costa del Sol are famous for their abundance and embellishment, with a lot of motifs inviting you to take a walk and enjoy this atmosphere. Also there is usually found in all municipalities a broad program of Christmas concerts and markets. Fuengirola's Christmas market is located in the Plaza de la Constitution.
