Auriga Crown Malaga (Outdated)

Post by saintopm » Tue May 31, 2011 1:01 pm

Before you hire any car from Aurigacrown please read the below.. They are cheap but there is a reason for this.

Resume and review of the experience and the email sent to Auriga Crown complaining about the service:

1. When we arrived at the airport I went straight to the desk and asked about upgrading the car to accommodate all the baggage, when making my enquiry I was met by a very unresponsive agent who told me in no uncertain terms that all they had was a ford focus and it would cost 50Eur extra. He then continued to tell me that also on top of that I would have to pay approximately 80 EUR for the tank of diesel that was not mentioned when I originally booked the car and I would also need to pay for the excess waiver for damage to the body work and the wheels which again when booking the car was not mentioned to me.
2. When we finally reached the hire car there was considerable damage to the body work which had been noted down but the next day we also found that the rear break light was also not working, again when I called into the office to report this I was told in no uncertain terms that either I had to live with it or take the time out of my holiday to return the car to Malaga Airport which was at least 45 mins. Do you not have to ensure that the car is road legal before you allow it to be hired?
3. On the 18th of April the car broke down on the A7 between Estepona and Puerto Banus while being driven by Kathleen Alcock and two other female passengers due to the clutch breaking. Once we had called back into the office a recover truck was dispatched to retrieve the car which took approximately 1 hour. When the recover truck driver arrived at the scene he was unable to communicate with the ladies due to the fact he did not speak English so he proceeded to remove the car and left the ladies stranded on the A7.

I can be reasonable with regards to points 1 & 2 but I cannot get over how you can leave three women on the side of the A7 without any instructions on what they need to do. Had we not had access to another car they would have had to have walked back to the apartments and had it not been for the police who had to escort them down the steep embankment to the side road they would have been completely stranded.

All in all the service that was provided by your company was completely unacceptable and I would not recommend your company to anyone visiting Spain.

For the inexcusable danger you exposed three women too and the appalling service I would request that you issue a full refund for the hire of the car.

Please get back to me as a matter of urgency.

Regards
Oliver

I too hired a car from Auriga Crown Malaga last week, I have to say the experience was one I never want to repeat! There were 3 agents on the desk who all looked completely disinterested in their customers and seemed to be more interested in holding conversations among themselves rather than engaging with their customers. The paperwork bit went OK but when I got to the car, it was in a shocking state - no hub caps on front wheels, rim damage to front tyres, numerous deep scratches & dents along both sides of the vehicle and a smashed mirror with a missing cowling. I looked at my paperwork and NO DAMAGE was recorded so I went back through security to raise this with the AC staff at the front desk. The original woman I had dealt with immediately passed me to her colleague, who was really abrupt to the point of being rude. I explained that there was significant damage to the vehicle, she wrote it all down on my paperwork and handed it back to me - then tried to walk away! I explained that I wasn't happy driving a vehicle in that state, so she showed me a computer screen with another vehicle on it - this had a number of yellow stars on the screen, on the bonnet, on the roof, along both sides so I asked what the stars meant. "It's damage" she said - I told her that that car was possibly in a worse state than the one I had refused to drive and she shrugged and said "all of our cars are damaged". The entire queue heard this and everyone looked astonished. I offered to pay for an upgrade but she simply said "upgrade will get you bigger car but it will still be damaged"! I found her attitude to be really shocking and she was completely disinterested in anything I had to say. I have hired cars from different companies in both Malaga & Murcia and never come across anything like this so I will not be using AC ever again, trust me!

Eventually, they got the message (after leaving me standing there for 20 minutes) and came up with another car, which appeared to be OK. While I was standing waiting I was approached by another couple who were getting the runaround from the desk staff. They asked me what I thought about the rip-off scheme of having to pay €80 for a full tank but then bring it back empty. I told them that I had paid a deposit of €78 for a full tank but it would be refunded if I returned it full. You can imagine the uproar that this caused.

The car drove OK for the first 4 days but then one day on the A7, going up a long, steep hill between Malaga & Benalmadena, I lost all power to the vehicle and couldn't even steer it into the hard shoulder. Luckily, I was in the inside lane but it was really dangerous having to shove the car in to the hard shoulder while traffic was flying past. I called the assistance number and they sent a tow truck, which meant we were standing by the roadside for over an hour. The truck came, couldn't do anything with the car so he phoned a taxi which took us back to Malaga airport to pick up another car. When I got there, we had to go to a different desk from the one which I originally hired from. I was met with yet another uninterested representative who didn't even apologise for the inconvenience. I told her that the taxi had cost me €35 to get there, she just said "receipt" before refunding the money to me - charming!

All in all, the worst car hire experience I've ever had anywhere in the world - avoid Auriga Crown at all costs.

Raul, thanks for the welcome. The car hire issue was the only bad experience I had on the Costa Del Sol and it certainly didn't spoil my holiday. We all had a great time - I'll just pick a different car hire company next time.
