International People’s Fair in Fuengirola in 2017

The 23rd edition of the International People’s Fair in Fuengirola will take place the next Thursday  27 April until Monday 1st of May.

There will be representations of more than 30 different countries, among those countries you will be able to find stands from Italy, Senegal, United States and some Spanish regions like Navarra or Canary Islands among many others.

Mijas fair

Local festivities in Mijas begin the Sunday 4th in September. From then there will be events and performances for the entire week.

On the first day of the fair, when night comes, the fair lighting will be switched on. The next day the daytime fair officially begins.

In 2017 the fair took place from 6th to 10th September.

Ajoblanco Festival in Almachar on the first Saturday of September

Gastronomic event celebrated since 1968 and of free entrance with numerous activities.

The festival includes of course ajoblanco (typical dish made of almonds juice), a gastronomic route and numerous events for all audiences.

Olive Fair in Alozaina

Between 12 and 15 September is celebrated the collection of the olive in the municipality of Alozaina Malaga. It is celebrated with beer, pork and cheese from the village.

The fair was first held in 1929 and offers visitors an opportunity to learn more about the traditional harvesting of green olives in Alozaina.

Ronda fair and ‘Goyesca Bullfighting’

The traditional fair in Ronda known as the Pedro Romero Fair is held between the last week of August and early September.

In 2017 it took place from August 28th to September 3rd.

It is an event declared a Festival of National Tourist Interest of Andalusia and it  highlights especially the traditional’ Corrida Goyesca’ in the Plaza de la Real Maestranza de Caballería de Ronda.

Luna Mora de Guaro (Moorish Moon Festival) in September

For two days (usually on the second weekend of September) this white village is a meeting point for the medieval Andalusian culture with the light of 25.000 candles in the streets.

During the Luna Mora festival there are performances, craft stalls and gastronomy stalls. Highly recommended I enjoyed much the food in my last visit.

Anchovie Day in Rincón de la Victoria

The last weekend of September there are free anchovies tasting at Rincon de la Victoria.

The event begins at 12.30 pm next to the promenade and close to the old train station.

World Tourist Day

The World Tourist Day is on Tuesday 27th September and there are events to welcome the tourists visiting Malaga.

Depending on the municipality where you are there will be different events. In Mijas, the main square had in the past events flamenco performances and a free sweet wine tasting.

Other municipalities offer free food tasting.

Raisin day in El Borge

They celebrate the Raisin Day the third Sunday in September.

Istan fair and San Miguel pilgrimage are celebrated the first Sunday before the 29th in September and lasts 5 days.

Torremolinos fair and San Miguel Pilgrimage

The Torremolinos Fair lasts 5 days and ends on October 1st. On the Sunday before that date, the San Miguel pilgrimage takes place to Los Mantantiales, a pine forest located on the outskirts of the municipality.

Day fair features dancing, music and other events at the main squares and the centre of Torremolinos.

International People´s Fair in Fuengirola from April 30 to May 4

xx feria internacional de los pueblosFrom April 30 to May 4, takes place the twentieth edition of the popular International People´s Fair in Fuengirola. This event which takes place every year in the fairgrounds of this Costa del Sol city has become one of the most popular events in the city with one million visitors. However, the Fair this year will be very special as it celebrates its twentieth edition, thus has been organized a full program of activities with lots of surprises to commemorate this special anniversary.

The town of Fuengirola is not only one of the most popular tourist destinations on the Costa del Sol, but also is home of a large number of foreign residents. Each year come together more than 30 nations from around the world, presenting their customs, folklore and cuisine through their costumes, crafts, music, dances in a colourful multi-ethnic party paying tribute to this coexistence and tolerance.

In addition to joint activities such as parades, each country has its own program of activities with concerts and dance performances, craft markets and of course the cuisine of each country. This year the participating countries and regions to be confirmed are: Andalucía, Aragón, Algeria, Argentina, Asturias, Australia, Bolivia, Brazil, Bulgaria, Colombia, Cuba, Dominican Republic Ecuador, Egypt, Finland, Galicia, Germany, Great Britain, Greece, Hawaii, Ibiza, India, Ireland, Morocco, Mexico, Norway, Paraguay, Peru, Serbia, United States, Uruguay and Venezuela.

On Wednesday April 30 the opening takes place at 12 noon and the opening of the booths at 1 pm, with food, crafts and folk performances every day. On Thursday May 1st takes place the popular Parade of all participating countries along the central boulevard of the fairgrounds full of colours, costumes and lots of music.

The International Peoples Fair takes place from April 30 to May 4 from 1pm to 4 am outdoors and the booths of the Fuengirola fairground situated in the city centre, close to the bus and train station. The enclosure is adapted for disabled visitors.

HOW TO GET TO THE INTERNATIONAL PEOPLES FAIR IN FUENGIROLA

From the Costa del Sol municipalities you reach Fuengirola by the Mediterranean motorway A-7 and N-340 National Highway. You can also reach this town by bus from Marbella and Mijas and train from Malaga city, Malaga airport, Torremolinos and Benalmadena among others.

In the months of September and October are held a number of Fairs throughout Andalusia. In the coming weeks fairs lovers have two important appointments in Torremolinos and Fuengirola: Folklore, dance, music, cuisine, all in copious amounts accompanied by probably not less drinks and desire to have fun are the basic ingredients of each fair, which according to each locality also acquires a unique nuance.

fair torremolinos 2013San Miguel Fair from September 26 to 29: During these dates the streets of the city are adorned and there take place many activities including Rocio choirs and musical performances, all bathed in colour and music. At night the party continues at the fairgrounds.

San Miguel Romeria September 22: This Romeria is a pilgrimage where congregate every year thousands of people and dozens of decorated wagons, some drawn by oxen, where in a festive atmosphere of joy they walk from the city centre to the chapel of San Miguel.

Fuengirola Fair

Virgen del Rosario Fair from October 6 to 12: This Fair is probably one of the most popular ones regarding its enormous cultural tradition. For a week the streets are decorated, many fairgoers wear the typical dresses and you can see many horse carriages and horsemen, something very typical in this fair and for what it is well known. In the bullring take place activities related to horses and bullfighting; there is a festive atmosphere throughout the city with many bars open during the day, but the heart of the festival is at the fairgrounds.

Virgen del Rosario Pilgrimage September 29: This procession goes through the centre of the city to the fairgrounds, a parade with beautifully decorated carriages and marching bands.

Mijas Pueblo Fair from September 5 to 9 in 2013

In the popular white village of Mijas, located a few kilometres from Fuengirola on the Costa del Sol at about 400 meters above sea level, is celebrated these days the fair in honour of the town patron, the Virgen de la Peña. During these days in the village takes place an extensive program of cultural activities, sports, music and festivities.

Here we present you the program summary for these days:

Thursday 5th: Children’s Day, all the attractions are priced at € 1.50; draw, grand parade at 6 pm with start and finish in front of the City Hall.
Friday 6th: From 2 pm to 9 pm. Opening Day fair, children’s playroom, popular games at 5 pm at the Wall, from 10 pm performances of dance and music groups.
Saturday 7th 10:30 am. Traditional bike ride through the village starting at the city hall. Horse Ride through the streets of Mijas. 8 pm Great Children’s party in the Town hall booth, with entertainment groups. 10:45 pm. Dance till dawn with orchestra.
Sunday 8th: 6 pm. Parade of traditional music bands. 9:30 pm Procession of the Virgen de la Peña, patroness of Mijas.
Monday 9: 12 pm. Parade of traditional music bands. 10 pm. Dancing in the Town hall booth with orchestra:

How to get to Mijas Pueblo

By car: Along the Mediterranean motorway A-7. From Benalmadena before reaching Fuengirola take exit 214 towards the A-387 / Mijas.
From Marbella on the AP-7 take exit 213 towards the A-387 / Mijas. If you drive along the A-7 / N-340 take exit 210 in Fuengirola towards the A-387 / Mijas.
By bus: From the bus station in Fuengirola buses leave every 25 minutes to Mijas Pueblo.

Malaga Fair from August 17 to 24

fair malaga 2013It won´t be long now for the popular Feria de Malaga, one of the most vivacious, joyful and colourful fairs in Spain, which each year attracts a large number of local and foreign visitors enjoying music, the bustle, lots of fun and probably no less Cartojal (typical sweet wine made from Muscat grapes served very cold).

The Malaga Fair develops in two different scenarios: During the day it takes place in the streets and squares of the city centre and at night it moves to the fairgrounds. The downtown streets are decorated and many locals wear typical traditional dresses.

The Day Fair in the historic centre stars at midday at Plaza de la Merced; there is a craft market “Craftsma”, live music and Flamenco. In Alcazabilla Street there are activities for children with workshops, storyteller, theatre and puppetry at 3.30 pm.

In the evenings there is entertainment until dawn at the Fairgrounds, with typical fairground rides, and lots of music for all tastes, food and drink. All concerts at the Municipal Auditorium are free. There is a bus service to and from the Fairgrounds which is active from 9 pm until 6.30 am in the morning.

The fair ends on Sunday 25 in the city centre with the historic parade, recreating the arrival of the Catholic Kings in Malaga, starting at 7 pm and with the following itinerary: Malaga town hall, Avenida de Cervantes, Rotonda Marqués de Larios, Plaza de la Marina, Molina Larios, Cortina del Muelle, Avenida de Cervantes and town hall.

International Art Festival Marbella from June 20 to 23, 2013

For three days, from 20th to 23rd of June, this cultural event is celebrated in Alameda and Avenida del Mar of this Costa del Sol town. Establishing itself as the largest arts festival outdoors, it features artists from all disciplines such as painting, photography, art, digital art and graffiti; plus there is a sculpture garden and it will be accompanied by an extensive entertainment program.

In parallel, takes place an extensive program of shows, singers and bands for all tastes, such as a Tenor, Country, Blues and Pop, acrobatics, juggling, theatre and poetry among others. Amidst so much art, you cannot miss a few treats for the palate presented in the form of a gourmet area.

The event is free and takes place from 5 pm to 11:30 pm.
