Marbella is very close to host the Davis Cup, the news heard lately are favorable for its application which was submitted to host the quarter-final between Spain and Germany, an event planned on 10 and July 12. The list of candidates to host this sporting event is only 3 candidates, Marbella, Zaragoza and Puerto de Santa María; and Marbella is clear favorite for the quality of its hotels and shopping.

The federal responsible visit still pending , they should evaluate each municipality and produce a final report. Marbella Operators are doing a hard work against the clock to complete the improvements in the bullring of Puerto Banus, proposed as a finalist for the stage of the tennis tournament. The work being undertaken include removing graffiti and prepare the square surroindings. It provides a capacity of 12,000 spectators, with a possible extension with extra bleachers.

According to the words of Mayor Angeles Muñoz "We are able to organize such event with the backing of the entire city.."

As a curiosity, social networks also support the nomination: for its part a link in Facebook, already counted more than 1,200 messages of support. The cost of hosting the Davis Cup is about 2 million.
