0Benalmádena, Casares, Estepona, Fuengirola, Manilva, Marbella, Mijas and Torremolinos will be the chosen cities receiving money from Plan Qualifica (Qualification plan). It aims to improve city centres and touristic places to gain a reorientation of the touristic offers for the Costa del Sol. The money will be used to facelift seaside promenades, city centres, marinas and the scenic surroundings of the Costa del Sol. Planned is the diversification of offers, which in our case mainly includes overcoming the reputation of the Costa del Sol of just being a classical sun & beach destination. The efforts of the Costa del Sol interior to establish itself as a rural destination in Andalucia hasn’t gone unnoticed.
The immense fortunes of our villages keep the constant international investments flowing.
Also the enormous cultural heritage of the Costa del Sol helps to this and many headquarters of important cultural institutions and museums can be found in Málaga. Museo de Arte Carme Thyssen-Bornemisza, and Art Natura are proof of future activities which will include important recovery works on historic buildings, like the renovation of Palacio de Villalón and the Tabacalera building.
Even the beautiful nature of the Costa del Sol provided for some important investments. Those were used to improve the seasonalities, which means a constant threat for the Hotels of the Costa del Sol. Main developments were made in the sector of active tourism, and by now the Costa del Sol boasts the highest concentration of golf courses on the whole continent and the best and most famous marinas such as Puerto Banus and Puerto deportivo de Benalmadena.
