0The nights in Mijas village will take a very peculiar color this summer. Good food and local handicrafts, seasoned with the best performances, turn this white village on the Costa del Sol into a compulsory meeting place during the summer months at sunset.
On Tuesdays and Fridays after 8 pm “Vive Mijas de Noche” (Live up Mijas Nights) becomes the star of the day. This program, initiated by the Town Council invites the visitor to know new places.
Thus, the three most emblematic points of the village (Plaza Virgen de la Peña, Constitution Square and Wall) become a makeshift stage for the best performances, with flamenco, jazz and all kinds of live music.
In this context arises 'La Ruta de la Tapa' (The Snack Route). For just 1.50 € visitors can buy a drink with a typical Spanish snack, while enjoying the entertainment provided in lovely surroundings.
But this is not the only attraction of this activity. The town hall has created the 'Tapaporte', a unique passport in which visitors gets a stamp of each bar and once completed, they can request other gifts.
During these months there will also be a bus service linking Mijas with the town of Fuengirola on Tuesdays and Thursdays until one o'clock in the morning, the days when are performed the activities of this tourism initiative.
The bus will run until one o'clock in the morning and carry out all the regular stops linking these two towns. Visitors who want to use it only need to pick up the ticket in the "Vive Mijas" booth located at the Plaza Virgen de la Peña and may deliver the "Tapaporte", an original document proving the bars which have been visited, to use the bus for free.
