Marbella Tapas 2010

To the many attractions that the city of Marbella has to offer, will shortly come one more reason to visit this town situated on the Costa del Sol. From the 5th to the 8th of August will be celebrated the third edition of "Marbella Tapas."

"Marbella Tapas" is a culinary competition that will take place entirely in the Avenida del Mar. In this location, twelve catering establishments offer the number of Tapas they deem appropriate to the attendees, although only three of them, clearly identified with a name and category, will be competing among themselves.

For our foreign visitors not familiar with the concept of "Tapa", this is a very traditional way of life which especially in Andalusia has developed a very high degree of refinement. Tapas are cold or warm snacks of a large variety of meats, seafood, cheese or vegetables served with beer, wine or juice. In some cities, like Granada, Tapas have developed into a culinary art of its own and are furthermore for free.

The categories, where these native delicacies in the third edition of "Marbella Tapas" can classify, are two: Popular Tapas (Tapas based on popular and/or traditional Mediterranean products and recipes) and Innovative Tapas (Tapas with free elaboration).

What is not free, is the price of the Tapas (1.5 €) and the beer (1 €). Nor will be the schedule, as you only can enjoy Tapas in Marbella from 12:00 am to 17:00 pm and 19:00 pm to 00:00 pm.

As in all competitions for Tapas, there will be a jury and for the third edition of Marbella Tapas the level is very high, as there will be present as well Michelin-starred chefs.
Marbella Tapas 2010 undoubtedly will be a first-class culinary event where you can enjoy, at popular prices, the best cuisine in miniature of the Costa del Sol.
