With the arrival of summer it is time to enjoy the music festivals outdoors. And definitely, there is nothing better than enjoying live music at the very beach. The Indie music lovers have the pleasure of enjoying the fifth edition of Fuengirola Pop Festival held each year at Bikini Beach, just meters from the sea and the Moorish castle Sohail as backdrop.
The Fuengirola Pop Festival was created in 2008 with the idea of establishing itself as an event focused on music and pop culture, responding to a very large minority that calls for another kind of concerts, with Pop music, Rock, Power-Pop, Punk-Pop, Garage, Surf or Soul. The audience of this festival can dance to the rhythms of a varied cocktail next to the sea shore with music from the 60´s to the present of a dozen bands from Spain, USA, France, Italy and guest DJs.
You can find information (in Spanish) on the website Fuengirola Pop Weekend.
The beach bar Bikini Beach, next to which the festival takes place, is located on the beach of El Ejido, near the river and the castle Sohail. On this beach there are also many Moragas (barbecues at the seafront) on the boats that can be rented for this purpose in the City hall, if you fancy some.
How to get to the Fuengirola Pop Weekend
El Ejido beach is situated at the end of the promenade of Fuengirola. You get there on the motorway A-7 or national road N-340, exit at the junction with the River Fuengirola (coming from Malaga) or the exit just past the Hotel Beatriz (coming from Marbella). There is a car park next to the Castle and another next to the Hotel Beatriz. There is also a much larger car park about 300 metres away in the Miramar shopping centre.
