Christmas in Málaga has almost arrived with the inauguration of the Christmas illumination and the local nativity scene.

The main news compared with past years are a big 30 m high tree, a roof with Picasso motives and a big light-meteor.

You can already smell Christmas in Malaga with the nativity sets, typical sweets and lights forming part of the center which since today shows its christmassy side. The mayor inaugurates the local nativity scene in the town hall´s patio and the Christmas illumination which consists of about 3.5 million lights. In this year adornment stands out the big tree located at La plaza de la Constitucion / / Constitution Square and a roof with symbolic motives for Pablo Ruiz Picasso and Christmas.

This year the public servants, responsible for parks and gardens, as well as the private companies responsible to put up the adornments, carried out a great work. They put up, as mentioned before, more then 3 million lights, bells, giant bags and boxes and planted about 100.000 Poinsettias. To mention apart is the floral nativity scene at Plaza del Marques de Larios / Marqués de Larios Square. The opening hours for the local nativity set located in the patio of the town hall are daily from 10 am to 2 pm and from 5 pm to 9 pm until the 6th of January. Its a classical monumental nativity scene with mainly ceramic figures. Every year new pieces are incorporated while the damaged are brought to the repair shop La Alcazaba for restoration. One of the oldest figurines derives from the studio Arte Cristino in Olot.
