The enigma of the Shroud of Turin in Malaga

Malaga's cathedral opens worldwide the exhibition on the Shroud of Turin, one of the most studied religious objects. This generously sized exhibition includes a number of forensic investigations on the man who allegedly was wrapped in this cloth.

Being probably the most powerful relics of the Catholic faith, it is not without a certain mystery to this day. Over the years have been implemented a large number of tests to verify its age and authenticity, the most rigorous of the Carbon-14, coordinated by the British Museum, dating the Shroud of the Middle Ages as well as its chemical analysis and a 1389 letter found from a bishop of Troyes (France) to the Pope, being most likely the first "fake picture" of the history.

The exhibition covers a total of 12 rooms among which there is also a forensic room and a science room by providing data that is interesting at the very least. The presentation stays in Malaga until mid-June and then moves to other cities in Europe and America. The opening time is 9 am to 9 pm. The ticket price is 8 € and includes an audio guide. Tickets can be purchased on the website www.sabanasantaexpo.com, at 902 76 00 40 or at the box office installed next to the Cathedral. It is advisable to book tickets in advance because it is expected a large number of visitors.

We also have received information about a "counter-program" to this exhibition, not without a certain humour, at the CAC Contemporary Art Centre of Malaga; an set up that coincides with the exhibition of the "Holy Shroud". The CAC Málaga is inspired by the German "Kunsthaus", a dynamic "House of Art", open to new trends, forms of expression and social concerns, conceptual, political and aesthetic aspects of contemporary art.

So there is Shroud for many tastes, the choice is entirely yours!

The cathedral is located in the historic centre of Malaga in Calle Molina Lario, near the City Park and the port of Malaga. The CAC is located in15 minutes walking distance, between the river and the port, in Calle Alemania.
