Malaga Beaches

Malaga has seven sites which offer a service tailored to physically disabled people to enjoy the sand, sea and sun.

This summer has been launched a new initiative in Malaga with the intention that persons with disabilities have equal opportunities like everybody else to enjoy Malaga beaches. This is a program of the Universal Access area provided until the second half of September, Monday to Sunday, from 11:00 am to 20:00 pm.

There are seven accessible beaches on the coast of the capital of the Costa del Sol:

El Palo, La Malagueta, El Dedo, Pedregalejo, San Andrés, La Misericordia y Guadalmar.

All of them have reserved parking, ramps to the beach, walkways to the shore, changing rooms, accessible toilets and children's areas, as well as surveillance and rescue service, outdoor showers and amphibious wheelchairs. However, only the beaches of La Misericordia and El Dedo offer a support service and accompaniment to the sea. At the Beach La Misericordia there is also a lane for the blind.

Each person gets a bracelet that has a universal remote and there is a panel that indicates how far the person is away from the shore. They are identified by colored caps, as well as for their skill in the water. When they need help, they can notify through the bracelet. There are four lifeguards at every point of the service area. All are professional lifeguards but they have a peculiar feature, which is that they have a very human quality.
